Bostitch PN100K Impact Nailer Kit Review

I just received this tool, and drove about a dozen large nails to give it a test run. Based on this very short trial, I would say that the tool does a very impressive job of nailing. However, the owners manual is a real joke. It's a good thing this tool is pretty much self explanatory, because it takes about 15 seconds to read the owners manual. The manual is basically just a series of warnings about how not to injure yourself when using the tool. It tells you nothing about how to change out the noses, which is probably the main thing you would want to know. It also makes absolutely no reference to the odd looking black leather gizmo that comes with it.
I called the Bostitch technical help line and was told that this thing is to be used to wrap around the tool to make it easier to hold, but they could give me no information as to how to fit the tool into it. They also said that almost no one used this thing, so I just gave up after trying for about 15 minutes to figure out how it is supposed to fit around the tool.
Also, I unscrewed the nose that came on the tool, and discovered that the O-ring that goes on it was apparently installed improperly, so the O-ring got pretty much shredded as I unscrewed the nose. Ironically, the tool comes with a set of spare O-rings that contain every O-ring you would need except this one. The technical help department said they would send me eight spare ones, which I should receive in about a week or so.
So, if you buy one of these tools, the first thing I would recommend is throwing away the owners manual and the black leather thing, (unless you can think of some use for it in your bedroom) and don't try to change out a nose unless you first obtain some spare O-rings.

The Bostitch story
Originally known as the Boston Wire Stitcher® Company, the first syllables of the words "Boston" and "Stitcher" were joined to make "Bostitch®", and the name was adopted for product use after the manufacture of machines began. Thomas Briggs, the founder, invented in 1896 a new kind of user friendly Wire Stitcher designed for fastening books, calendars, checks, hat boxes, etc. This machine made a staple or stitch as it was called from a coil of wire. It was called the Boston Wire Stitcher and the company was named the Boston Wire Stitcher Company. In 1903 the company invented a foot operated stapling machine that used pre-formed staples. These staples were not collated but had to be slid off of a track into the magazine of the machine. Later they were collated with paper and then glue. Soon the Boston Wire Stitcher Company was developing various kinds of staplers for industrial markets. In 1930 the Bostitch® Sales Company was formed to sell Bostitch® products, and in 1948 the Boston Wire Stitcher Company officially became Bostitch®, Inc. The first Coil Nailer from Bostitch, the N2, came on the scene in 1965, and the rest is history. Today, Bostitch sells a huge range of nailers, compressors, and other products, and is a leader in the industry.
